Most dairy cows produce milk containing both A1 and A2 proteins. The A1 protein is often the cause of digestive discomfort in many milk drinkers. Our cows produce milk with only the A2 protein. It’s that simple.

In the past, cows used to only produce A2 protein milk. However, a natural mutation occurred and cows began producing A1 protein in addition to A2 protein.

Thankfully, there is a safe way to test cows to see which protein their milk contains!

By only breeding cows that produce A2 milk, Ten Finns™ creamery is Minnesota’s first exclusively A2 herd and creamery.

Now, more people with milk sensitivities can comfortably enjoy creamy, real milk.

Ten Finns Northern Minnesotan family farm making A2 milk products

Hey there—

We’re the Hendricksons!

We're Joel and Amanda Hendrickson, fifth-generation Finnish (and proud) dairy farmers in Northern Minnesota.

Our kids — Zach, Maddie, Julia, Lucy, Lily, Maria, Lane, Nora, Finn and Emma — are the inspiration behind Ten Finns Creamery. We know the great nutritional value of dairy for our kids, your kids, and adults everywhere. We also know that regular milk doesn't work for everyone, so we made the switch to A2/A2 cows.

This is a family affair — including our cows. That's why instead of getting tagged with a number, each cow is tagged with their own name picked out by our kids. The kids play a big role in the daily love and care of the herd.

Sustainable Farming

Ten Finns is committed to doing things the right way. We only want to produce products in ways that prioritize nutrition, preserves our land, and treats our animals right. Our farm sits atop 250 acres of organic farmland, and we’re in the process of transitioning 100 more acres over to organic land.

“We want our farm to be as sustainable as possible. Doing so not only results in more nutritious and clean products, but also a better and longer-lasting farm. So our kids will be able to keep these operations running for generations to come.”
— Joel Hendrickson, Ten Finns

At our farm, we employ sustainable farming practices including:

No synthetic fertilizers — our cows take care of that for us! Most of our cows are also natural manure spreaders who roam year-round. It’s great for them and so much better for the planet.

Planting cover crops for carbon sequestration — to keep carbon in the soil and out of our atmosphere.

No pesticides or herbicides are used in any of our farming practices at
Ten Finns.

Planting diverse species together — no mono-culture crops here — to preserve our soil, protect crops against stress, and the plants actually work together to help each other grow.

Preparing our land for “minimal-till” planting.

We’re proud to be leading the charge for sustainable farming in Minnesota. It’s our hope that these practices are popularized and used widely around the world — for better food and for a better planet. Ask about a tour!

So, what are people saying about our milk?

“There was an obvious change in my son. He was 14 when we first tried A2/A2 milk for him.  He has a history of ear infections, post nasal drip and just general upper respiratory congestion. After a couple weeks of drinking only A2/A2 milk, everything had completely cleared up.  He is now 16 and feels a difference in his overall health.” — Jenny

“For over 20 years I avoided milk because I was tired of dealing with the stomach ache that would follow. I tried a number of milk alternatives over the years that either left me with the same upset stomach or just didn't taste good.  I never thought I would be able to drink real milk again until I was introduced to Ten Finns A2/A2 milk. I am finally able to enjoy all the healthy benefits of milk with no adverse effects!” — Sara

“I love milk, but had stomach trouble when I drank it, so I gave up on it. I was one of the first to test Ten Finns A2/A2 milk and to my delight, no stomach problems with it. I love it!” — Harold

Menahga family launches Minnesota's first A2 milk creamery

A fifth-generation Finnish dairy farm in northern Minnesota is exclusively breeding an A2 herd and preparing A2 milk for sale. "We're the first in Minnesota to do that," said Joel Hendrickson, a 2003 Menahga High School graduate. Joel and wife Amanda own a 310-acre farm, three miles south of Menahga, situated next to the Otter Tail and Wadena county line.
